Ird

 This page is for my occasional notes on the Rhyndarean world, known by its inhabitants as "Ird" or sometimes its aelfen name, "Zyr".

This is my original map, dating, I guess, from around 1982. I've made a couple of small changes so it better fits my current ideas, but I guess it's likely to change quite a bit as the project evolves.

This world was originally a combination RPG/D&D and Play by Mail game. (PBM BTW, was a concept for collaborative campaign games which existed before email.) My world was immense, and some other remote gamers contributed ideas - but it never went beyond a massive map and a hundred pages of notes. Although there were several gaming concepts as part of it, one of them being the possibility of gaming at different "levels" (strategic, tactical, skirmish and RPG), none of them ever came to anything.

One of the original countries within it was Rhyndareas. In the original concept it was a mountain realm, towards the edge of the world. Now I've made it the central land, still ringed by mountains.
